Making History by Phillip Fields
How do you want to be remembered? You will be known for something. The question is not "will you" but "how will" you be remembered. Everyone makes a mark. Out of the billions of people on the planet only a few stand out because their contribution to others.
What do you want others to say about you when your gone? Do you want them to talk about how much money you made or how famous you were or how many amazing things you did? What will your grandchildren say about you?
I have settled this issue in my heart. I'm leaving behind the most valuable asset on the planet. My kids will inherit something that has eternal value. It is the secret to greatness. The inheritance that I leave behind has very little to do with my accomplishments and my assets.
My plan is to show the generations to come how to leverage GRACE! It would bring me zero satisfaction to leave behind a few worldly belongings. No! I'm a living example of how to leverage Grace. Grace is God's goodness poured into my life. Grace transformed my life that was nothing important until I was touched by my Father's goodness. Once I tasted the life-cleansing love of Jesus I was like the prostitute who washed His feet. I wanted as much as I could get.
That's what I want my kids to remember about dad. He needed a lot Grace and He found a lot Grace. He was so real about his need for Grace. I hope someday when my name gets brought up that they talk about how Grace radically changed my life. I hope they never say and he went to church and read his Bible. If that's all they see then that would be an insult.
If I am remembered for anything then I hope it sounds something like this: "Remember Phillip he was an open book about how much he needed Grace! Wow, look at what the favor and the goodness of God did for him." How do I get that same favor on my life.
How will your story be recorded in the annuals of history? My hope is that you will see that how GRACE: the goodness of God changes everything.
