God Thinks Small Too by Lydia Fields

Do you ever have thoughts like, "I won't bother God with that." or, "God has bigger things to worry about"? If so, we have a couple things in common, because those were thoughts I used to get all the time, and still sometimes struggle with. I always thought, okay God has to think about every other single person on this planet, I'm not gonna worry Him with my little problems. Then one day I had the realization that when I have thoughts like that, not only are they complete lies, but also I'm deciding what's important in God's eyes. And newsflash: that's not my job.

I was talking about this very struggle in my small group, when my leader brought up such an amazing point: God cares enough about me that He even knows the number of hairs on my head. Now, if that isn't small then I don't know what it is. God cares about the small things in my life just as much as He cares about the big things. God thinks small too. He cared about my fight with depression just as much as He cares about my struggle to pay for gas. When He tells us that He loves us, it means that He loves all of us; every aspect of our lives. It isn't our job to assume what God thinks. He longs for a relationship with us that is full of communication, so that He can tell us what He thinks and speak into our lives.

Luke 12:7 says, "And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows." Not only does He want us to know that He cares enough to count all the hairs on our head, but He also wants us to know that He values us. God values our small problems. He doesn't call us petty for coming to Him about the little things in our life, He calls us beloved for being willing to trust Him to come through for us in all areas of our life.

God is our father. We are His sons and daughters. When He addresses us as His children, He is letting us know that He wants a relationship with us. A loving father cares about us when things are great in our life. A loving father cares about us when things are at their worst in our life. A loving father cares about us when our problems are piled high to the ceiling. A loving father cares about us when the little problems in our life attack us. A loving father has time for us. A loving father wants to be apart of it all: the good, the bad, and the ugly. God is our loving Father. He chose us, problems and all. Because the God that created the universe and still had time to count the hairs on each of our heads, definitely has time to think small too.
