The "Fog of War"

Outrage! Riots! Panic! The latest political upheaval has rattled our world once again...

Leaving fear to cover our nation, like a fog.

Yet, a constitutional conflict rages on, as politicians battle for control within our government.

The military uses the phrase "fog of war" to describes the realm of uncertainty often found on the battlefield. It's referred to as a chaotic time because things can blow-up at any moment...beyond the fog.

It's a time when confusion and frustration fill the hearts and minds of soldiers, as they brace themselves in the midst of the unknown for the next shaking.

War is volatile, uncertain, and complex. The life-and-death decisions that must be made in moments of fog cause troops to become mentally fatigued.

I believe that is where Christians and Conservatives find themselves in response to the outrageous events of this year and the recent election. Many are catatonic with shock at the results and most feel powerless to know what to do next in the wake of disappointment. The vast majority of Americans, whether Believers or not, are beyond exhausted with the fighting and just want all this to be over.

The disciples were in the "fog of war" the night Jesus was betrayed in the garden by one of their own. Peter tried to ignite the battle by drawing the sword. Christ shut him down with this command...

Put your sword away. Shall I not drink from the cup the Father has given me?

-John 18:11

Sometimes human intervention circumvents God's plan, which has a higher priority than that of man. His plans included Jesus was being sent to overthrow the rule of sin, not the tyranny of a government. Jesus was also sent to take down evil--the devil's ruling stronghold on the souls of men and the nature of sin. Ultimately, God knew He must redeem man's sin by empowering us with His Spirit to overcome the world and the diabolical schemes of the enemy.

Peter and the others got lost in the fog of Christ's impending death. But Jesus returned to them after the resurrection and reminded them of the original plan and why the cross was absolutely necessary. Jesus also reminded the disciples about the truth when they were full of self-pity and soaking in their disappointment.

Jesus, in His final parting, both commissioned and equipped them to go into all the world and make disciples. He called his followers to return to the truth and to be filled with HIS reigning presence.

I have failed miserably, in the past, when I tried to force my plan upon God. I know what it's like to get lost in the fog. But God has taken all of those disappointments, setbacks, and wilderness wandering years and turned them into great lessons.

I am clear and confident that God has called us to raise up an army during this season, a group of people who will covenant together to advance God's kingdom.

We can't sit in our disappointment, because things did not turn out the way we had hoped and prayed, which will only turn into self-pity, like the disciples. No.

We must RISE and not give up the fight for TRUTH!

Rise and become the church that God originally intended--the courageous church with resounding truth coming from our midst--that the world needs right now.

I am looking for a group of people who are willing to be that church right now--to go beyond doing church just to appease our religious duties.

I believe you are out there. People like me, who have been to hell and back, and yet you still believe--still willing to stand and remain in the battle.

You are warriors and your battle cry is to bring glory to the King!

Now is not the time for us to be discouraged or overwhelmed with emotion. It's time for us to be sober, seize this moment, and unite our hearts to take back this land, faith, and confidence that God has an ultimate plan for our good and the establishment of his Kingdom.

Join us this Saturday night @ 7 PM at The Warehouse, 321 Senoia Road Peachtree City for our Courageous Community gathering, where we will unite our hearts in prayer and praise together, and we will share news about our upcoming church launch!
